Effect of Feed Restriction Regimes on Growth Performance and Carcass Yield of Broiler Chicks

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of feed restriction on body weight, body weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio and carcass traits of broilers. Two hundred and forty one day old Hubbard broiler chicks were randomly distributed into five treatments. Each treatment included six replicates of 8 birds each. The five treatments were as follows: T1( birds were fed continuously for 24 hrs), T2 (feed was removed from 11 pm to 7 am), T3 (feed was removed from 8.00 am to 12.00 am and from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm), T4 ( feed was removed from 12.00 am to 6.00 pm), T5 birds (feed was removed from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm and from 11.00 pm to 8.00 am). Feed was offered ad libitum at all other times. The results indicated that feed restriction regimes significantly affected live body weight, body weight gain, and feed conversion at starter period. Feed restriction significantly reduced feed consumption and at the same time improved economic efficiency.
